After a record run the 2025-2026 girls basketball team is finished for the season. The team finished with a 12-12 record and made it to the second round of the playoffs with a loss to Pickerington Central, the furthest the school’s girls basketball team has ever been.
Last year the team’s record was 11-12 and only made it to the first round with a loss to Hilliard Darby. Just through a glance at the measurables anybody can see a mass improvement.
Players say the most exciting game of the season was in round one of the playoffs vs. Delaware Hayes. The bears pulled off the win in overtime with the score 75-72. This win also allowed the team to move onto the second round of the playoffs, district finals.
“I played at Hayes for the first two years of my high school career so this game was really important to me. I loved to see all of my friends from the previous years but I think that made the win all the better,” Ava Green ‘26 said.
The team had three seniors, Green, Taylor Martin, and Aubrey Bashore. These girls helped lead the team through the season. Green played shooting guard and small forward, Martin played shooting guard, and Bashore played power forward and center.
“The seniors this year were something special. I felt like I could genuinely talk to every single one of them and get great advice and just support. I truly will miss all of them so much next year,” Natalie Davies ‘28 said.
Kelsey Grubbs ‘28 led the team in points per game with 14.5, closely followed by Adi Trowbridge ‘27 with 14.1. Grubbs also led in rebounds per game with 11.3, blocks per game with 1.5, total points with 347, total rebounds with 270, and total blocks with 37. Other names found on the leaderboard are Green, Bashore, Ella Craig ‘29, and Keely Donohoe ‘28.
Congrats on a great season, Lady Bears!
