After a season of records, wins, and strong competition, Berlin track teams enter the postseason with confidence.
The Bears had an impressive season with many school records broken by multiple athletes throughout the year. Highlights include runners Jasmine McDearmon ‘28, Cooper Ailes ‘29, Vansh Sethi ‘27, Madison Findley ‘27, and David Mauser ‘26. All of which led the team through a successful regular season. From sprints to distance to field events, Berlin consistently showed both depth and determination throughout the year.
“I was really excited to be on the team this year and all the people and coaches on the team really helped me become the best sprinter I could,” McDearmon said.
With the help of coaches and teammates, the track team achieved multiple team placements at competitive meets. One of which is a 1st-place finish by both the girls and boys teams in the Johnstown season opener. This track season has been filled with personal records and competition in and outside the squad. As the regular season finishes, the competitors prepare for the very competitive postseason events.
“I’m excited for the post season to truly see what I can do when I run against the best competition I will go against all year. It will be hard but I think our team can do well,” Bekah Lape ‘26 said.
For track competitors, the postseason is a true test of all the work and dedication they have put into the season. Every practice and long meet has helped the team prepare for the postseason.
“It took a lot to get where we are and hopefully the work we did throughout the season can be enough to lead us to a successful post season,” McDearmon said.
In the postseason, the competition gets even more difficult, and every race matters as only the top athletes will move on. This is the time for Berlin athletes to focus all the work they have put in throughout the season and race to their best ability every meet in order to advance. The next meet will be the Super Regional, which takes place throughout three different days located at Wayne High school. Wish the Bears the best of luck as they compete.
