The World series clenched fans’ attention nationwide as the teams went back and forth all the way until game six.

Headed into the series the Houston Astros were seeded number one on the American League side and the Philadelphia Phillies were seeded sixth in the NL bracket. According to CBS, the Phillies took down the NL Central champion Cardinals, the NL East champion Braves, and the Padres to matchup in the Fall Classic.

The battle between the two teams hit off on Oct. 28 at Minute Maid Park, in a throwdown game that resulted in a score of 6-5. The Astros came back with intensity the next day to sweep a powerful win over the Phillies with a final score of 5-2. As reported by the MLB, Jose Altuve helped aid in the win, when his leadoff double led to a three-run first inning.

After a short break amidst games, they resumed in game three on Nov. 1 at Citizens Bank Park, which gave the Phillies a home-field advantage. The team used this to lead the game with extreme dominance on the field when they swept the Astros with a win of 7-0. The Astros didn’t let this affect their game when they took the field on Nov. 2 and impressed the crowd with a win of 5-0. As stated by The Washington Post, the Astros pitcher Cristian Javier walked two and struck out nine over six no-hit innings.

“He was very electric tonight with the fastball. I think that’s the way he is and we are always expecting that” catcher Christian Vázquez said.

Game five had fans on their feet as the Astros and Phillies were tied up and headed onto the field. Unlike the night before the Astros struggled to take the win over the Phillies with a final score of 3-2.

In the final matchup of game six, Astros player Yordan Alvarez gave them a three-run home run which ended the series and left the Astros victorious for their season.

The win for the Houston Astros was the first after six long years and the first title they clasped since the scandal that surrounded their World Series win in 2017. The series left the Astros with a record of 106 wins which was the best the team has had in a few years.

The streets were swarmed as the team paraded downtown Houston.

Around one million people celebrated the win at the parade on the seventh of November. Confetti fell, signs were waved and flags were flown as the team and fans paired together to commemorate the special moment in the city. Now the team continues to celebrate and radiate energy as they head into the off-season.
