The University of Michigan football team stunned Ohio State and won big, 45-23, in the much-anticipated matchup of “the most well-known rivalry in all of college sports”.

According to 247 Sports, “It’s just a great thrill. A great thrill of winning, a great thrill of being able to go for a championship,” Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said.

Sophomore starter quarterback J.J. McCarthy provided his statistically best game of the season. McCarthy threw for 263 yards with zero interceptions and scored four touchdowns while he ran for 27 yards, according to ESPN. Prior to the game, McCarthy gave a comment.

According to USA Today, “Feels like the stars are aligning, like it’s finally here. It’s meant to be and we couldn’t be more excited for it,” McCarthy said.

On the Buckeye side, probable Heisman candidate, quarterback C.J. Stroud had another MVP-worthy game. Stroud threw for his statistical third-best game of the season, where he threw for 349 passing yards. Stroud also completed two touchdowns. However, Stroud also threw a season-worst with two interceptions.

According to Eleven Warriors, “Honestly, I wish I could have done more. I wish I could have won these games,” Stroud said.

After the loss, which was Buckeye head coach Ryan Day’s second straight, questions have arisen about whether or not Day should have his starting job next season. Day’s two losses equal the number of losses Ohio State had gathered against Michigan from 2000-2018 according to Fan Nation.

According to The Ohio State Buckeyes, “I thought we played hard, I thought we were fighting out there, but in the end, we came up short,” Day said.

For the Wolverines, head coach Jim Harbaugh boosted his record against OSU to 2-5, both wins came in the two programs’ past two meetings. Harbaugh, who also started for Michigan as a quarterback from 1984-1986, went 2-0 against Ohio State during his tenure with the Wolverines.

According to Ohio State, “I’m so proud of them. I knew our team was focused and determined, as they have been all season,” Harbaugh said.

The all-time record between the two rivals now sits at 60-51-6 in favor of Michigan. Ohio State has however won eight out of the past ten matchups and looks to reclaim their winning streak next year when they face the Wolverines in Ann-Arbor.

According to Ohio State, “It’s been tough to be honest with you, man, going through what I went through last year after the game, it was tough and it was a hard pill to swallow for 365 days. It’s going to be tough again, but I think this program is tough, I think the coaches are tough, I think the players are tough,” Harabugh said.
