Pumpkin-shaped apple pies spice up the season

    As the leaves turn auburn and the lower temperatures call for oversized sweaters, it’s finally time to embrace the cozy season. With their gooey and cinnamon-spiced center, these mini pumpkin-shaped apple pies are essential for the Bears’ seasonal palates.

In its simplest form, this recipe only costs about $10 and takes 30 minutes, but is sure to satisfy your tastebuds and fill your kitchen with the sweet scent of warm apple cinnamon.

   Over the past month, this recipe has gathered rapid fame on the social media platform, TikTok, which has transformed it into a staple at-home autumn activity. Whether the apples are plucked straight from the orchard or poured out of a can, this delicious dessert is sure to surpass expectations.

Items to gather:

 

Pillsbury pre-made pie crust

1 can of apple pie filling

1 egg

Pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter

Steps:

  1. With a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter, cut out an even number of mini pies from Pillsbury’s pre-made pie crust sheets.
  2. On half of the mini pies, carve out a jack-o’-lantern face or any desired design.
  3. Put a small amount of apple pie filling in the center of the non-carved pie, then place a carved pie on top of it.
  4. Be sure to press down the edges with a fork to seal the two pies together, then brush each whole pie with an egg wash to create a golden-colored finish.

  5. Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned.
