The Black History Month show called “SPEAK” is a highlight of the year, gathers together various talented people to celebrate their heritage and talent. Now in its second year, the show has become a staple for the club since it was founded last year.
The show features a variety of performances, includes a cast, the Gospel Choir, and the Step Team. The plan for a show of this scale begins months in advance as students perfect every transition, from quickly moves to the other side of the stage to quick changes.
“This has been amazing to see how the students have come to the table bringing their gifts and talents,” Mr. Wise said. “They have so much inside of them and it’s a wonderful opportunity to see them share it with their peers and the community.”
While the rehearsals require hard work, the cast also finds moments for humor behind the scenes.
“The funniest, most unexpected thing that happened was when we were rehearsing the James Brown scene and Kailey was trying to smack these like cabinets and she almost smacked me in the face.” Katherine Otchere ‘29. “It was really funny.”
The Black History Month show takes place on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 7PM in the Auditorium.
