As April showers turn into May flowers, Berlin students prepare for the upcoming holiday Mother’s Day. From gifts to history there are plenty of ways to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day first began as ‘Mother’s Friendship Days’ organized by Ann Reeves Jarvis, whose daughter Anna Jarvis is cited as the creator of Mother’s Day. Since 1914 when it became a national holiday, Mother’s Day has been a day to honor the mothers within the family and all that they do. It is often celebrated with gifts and cards given to the moms in a family to show appreciation.
Mothers deserve a great amount of respect for all the work they do for their children and all the hard work that they do outside of the home.
“So, being a parent is hard,” teacher Kelly Battistone said. “I think we’re hard on ourselves. We want to do the best that we can for our kids. So, we hold ourselves to these impossibly high standards.”
