With the arrival of exam season, sleep is absolutely necessary to get. But, a lot of students have poor sleep habits.
The prevalence of short sleep duration in high schoolers (sleep for less than the necessary eight hours according to the CDC) is 72.7%. They also elaborate on the health issues that can result from poor sleep, including “increased risk for chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and poor mental health, as well as injuries, attention and behavioral problems, and poor academic performance.”
In short, sleep is quintessential to good health, and it is in anyone’s best interest to get the sleep that they need. BNN correspondents go more into depth about this sleep crisis among high school students.
