The rivalry games between OSU and “TTUN” (the team up north), brought out the enthusiasm in Columbus, Ohio and the pride Ohio has in the Buckeyes. Unfortunately, this year, the Buckeyes fell short in the fight and took their first loss to Michigan at home since 2000.

The game did not end as hoped, and many Ohioans, along with Governor DeWine, lost in wagers against fans from TTUN. DeWine’s wager was made between him and Governor Whitmer of Michigan. DeWines wager showcased many different beloved Ohio foods, while Whitmers highlighted some of Michigan’s native cuisines.

According to Governor.Ohio.gov, Governor DeWine said “I am proud of and confident in our Buckeye football team again this year, and am willing to put a little skin in The Game with another friendly wager showcasing great Ohio food. O-H!.”

DeWine wagered Buckeye pizzas from Adriancos Pizza, Stewart’s Root beer, as well as Jumbo Cream Puffs from Schmidt’s Sausage House in Columbus. Whitmers included a Detroit-style gift package which included a Buddy’s pizza, dessert from Good Cakes and Bakes, and a case of Vernors Ginger Ale.

“In the 118-year history of The Game, this weekend’s match-up might be the most consequential to date with two undefeated teams putting their seasons on the line,” Whitmer said

This year’s game had high stakes and with two undefeated teams it was bound to be a tough battle. Though our Buckeyes suffered this year’s loss, Columbus Ohio supported their efforts and certainly showed up when it came to game time.
