Fox in the Snow, a notable cafe with its original location in Short North, has added to the franchise with its new location in downtown Westerville.
The location opened its doors in mid October. As soon as the doors opened, there were lines right out the door. I was fortunate enough to be one of their first customers, and let me say, the hype was worth it. The line I was in took around ten minutes to clear, and finally it was my turn to order.
As soon as you reach the front of the counter, there is a wide display of assorted pastries and foods. They also have a selection of drinks, and of course, their seasonal items.
Some of their regular items that they have there are their Morning Buns, which is essentially a croissant in a muffin form filled with a chocolate. The crust is perfect enough that it has a very crunchy and fluffy texture combined. The price of a Morning Bun is 5 dollars, and the size of it is reasonably priced.
Fox in the Snow also has a variety of foods, which includes their famous egg sandwich. Some would say they are known for this specialty sandwich, which includes a toasted ciabatta bread with a fluffy egg base, candied bacon, a small amount of arugula, and swiss cheese. The price for this sandwich is 11 dollars, which I would say is a bit overpriced, but given the ingredients, size and preparation for this sandwich, it was worth it. When you wait in line for the sandwich the chef personally gives it to you, which I think is a very nice touch to the experience. They also do have a gluten free bread option for this sandwich.
For the drinks side, I have only had the matcha and the chai from this cafe, but both were better than I expected. The matcha has a very grassy taste, but I also added vanilla syrup to help sweeten it, which I helped with the taste. There are not many matcha places that I like near Delaware County, but this matcha was a good option for me.
I also did try the chai that Fox in the Snow has on their menu, which I would say was a great replacement for a Starbucks chai. This chai was priced at 4 dollars and fifty cents. Compared to the Starbucks chai, the spices in this one was very notable in the taste, and made the overall drink taste more flavorful and less bland like some competitors.
My experience here was definitely great, and I would recommend a visit to this cafe. I would give this cafe a solid 4 stars out of 5 because of the incredible service and great options. Although I will say that their drink options are a bit limited, they make up for it with their wide variety of pastries that are displayed. Overall, this cafe is a great experience altogether, and everyone should try it.
