Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner, with lots of deals in store for all shoppers.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday happen every year; Black Friday on the first Friday after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday on the Monday after. These are also known as the best two days to obtain good deals.
“I like Black Friday because I get good discounts and shop all day,” Molly Molinski ‘26 said.
Some people prefer one of the days over the other. Black Friday is majoritively done in person, with deals as early as 12:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity to purchase some good deals before the holidays come around.
Places to go include Polaris Mall, Easton, and the outlet malls.
However, some do not love Black Friday shopping due to the amount of people. Many take Black Friday as a day to get all their Christmas gifts bought, for a much lower price all at once, which leads to busy stores.
“Cyber Monday is great because I love getting new clothes and different things for cheaper [prices],” Evie Budic ‘27 said.
Cyber Monday on the other hand is all online. Deals on websites can be found on some popular ones including Amazon, Sephora, and Best Buy. Deals can be up to 40 percent off, and goods can be delivered straight to one’s doorstep. However, some packages may take around a week to be delivered.
“Black Friday is fun, but every store is packed,” Maia Lago-Jones ‘26 said.
As mentioned before, Black Friday is very busy. It is common for people to camp outside of stores until they open so they can hop on the best deals. This can unfortunately cause bad attitudes, and can lead to fights between people.
A couple years ago in New York, a mob of people sadly trampled Walmart workers which led to unfortunate deaths. Situations like this happen every year all over the country, so it’s very important to stay safe and away from dangerous situations like that when out.
“I’m excited to be a part of black friday, I know it will be very busy though,” Abby Agyemang ‘26 said.
The workers also prepare heavily for Black Friday and the weekend to follow. All stores are well staffed in this season, which leads to more efficient help in these busy times.
Sometimes, it can be so busy in the store that the line leads outside. Stores prepare for weeks in advance, and while inventory is always stocked, it will be even more stocked at this time of the year.
Both of these ways to shop can come in handy while the holidays become closer and closer, so, which way will you shop?
