The Berlin cross country season has come to an end after the Bears produced many fast times.
Breakout sophomore Vansh Sethi led the Bears with a school record time of 15:52, closely followed by senior Captain Eli Baxter who finished the season with a PR of 15:58. To round out Berlin’s top-3, junior Christian Passerini ran 16:10 at the Celtic Clash. This top-3 had the best average time in the school’s history with an average of 16:00.
With a shallow varsity squad, the Bears looked to freshman Jisnu Pichika, Tyson Mount and sophomore Mano Vegendla. All three of the boys broke 18:00 in the 5k with Pichika in front with a time of 17:35.
The squad failed to move onto Regionals after a heartbreaking loss against Westerville Central. Sethi and Baxter qualified individually as they both placed in the top-20 at Districts. Sethi finished in 4th place, the highest finish of a Bear all-time.
As the Bears move onto the next season, they will only be without the graduating Baxter. The team will take in soon-to be-freshmen, Micah and Mason Ballinger, who have dropped fast times in the 2-mile this past season. Both boys sit atop Olentangy Berkshire Middle Schools’ all-time fastest cross country times with 10:45 and 10:46 as their best marks.
From Olentangy Berlin Middle School, the Bears look for a promising star in Anderson Darif who ran a personal best of 11:41 at the Berlin Bear Den Dash.
