Browns star suffers massive injury

During a Monday Night Football game between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers on Sep. 18, Browns running back, Nick Chubb, suffered a terrible injury.

According to CBS Sports, Chubb has multiple torn ligaments in his knee. Fox Sports also reported that Chubb will have to undergo surgery to repair his knee.

In the second quarter of the game, Chubb was hit by Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Steelers and he immediately stayed down with an injury, according to CBS. Chubb’s left knee appeared to turn inward, which indicated a significant injury right away, NFL.com reported.

While the ESPN broadcast elected to not show a replay of the incident, audible gasps could be heard at the stadium as the replay was shown, according to CBS.

The Browns ended up losing the game 26-22 in its first loss of the season, after the Browns came out victorious in week one.

Chubb, who is often seen as the heart and soul of the Cleveland offense, is a huge loss for the Cleveland Browns. In 2022, Chubb played in 17 games and ran for 1,525 yards, according to NFL.com.

It’s a similar spot for Chubb as he has already injured the same knee in 2015 while he was at Georgia. In that case, he tore his MCL, LCL, and PCL, according to NBC.

Several Browns players and head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed support for Chubb postgame.

“He’s a great football player as we know, but he’s an even better person, so we will support him every step along the way,” Stefanski said, according to NBC.

Defensive end for the Browns, Myles Garrett, also showed his support for Chubb.

“It’s a blow for the whole team and we don’t want his injury to be in vain,” Garrett said, according to NBC.

NBC reported that former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson all lifted up prayers for Chubb on social media as well.

Unfortunately, Chubb’s injury means his season is most likely done, head coach Stefanski said, according to NBC.

Nevertheless, the team looks to rally support around Chubb and continue to compete and fight for him.
