Two teenagers faced a tragic death due to a sledding accident on Jan. 25.
Sixteen year-olds Elizebeth Angle and Gracie Brito took advantage of their snow day and connected a sled to a Jeep wrangler. While they were sledding, the Jeep made a turn, the sled hit the curb, and the girls ran into a tree. Unfortunately, neither of the girls made it through the accident.
These two were inseparable. They were absolute best friends. The girls went to school events together like homecoming, and were always with each other. Elizebeth’s and Gracie’s families were very close as well.
“I find some comfort knowing they are in heaven together… They were holding on to each other on the sled. Our hearts go out to the Brito family. We are forever connected,” Elizebeth’s mother Megan Angle said, according to Fox News.
Angle and Brito were said to be holding each other in their last moments together. The families of the victims want all kids to know to be safe during winter activities.
“If there is anything learned from this situation, it’s go out and have fun. Be safe, though,” Brian Angle said, according to Fox News.
This was a hard time for all of the victims’ family, friends, and communities. On January 13th, Gracie Brito’s cheer team competed for the first time without her. Everyone in the stands stood, cheered, and cried. Her spot stayed unfilled. This time really hit hard for everybody.
The two girls were known as super kind and generous. They loved to show genuine care towards others, and had bubbly personalities. Although rare, accidents like this tragedy can happen to anyone at any given moment. The Brito’s and Angle’s want all kids to know how to have safe fun, especially during the winter times.
