With prom on its way, where to eat is a repetitive question in our Bears’ minds. Here is an honest review of Chapman’s Eat Market.

Going into the meal my family and I knew reservations were hard to come across so we had high expectations of the food, and it certainly did not disappoint. From the outside, the restaurant is a welcoming sage green color. When entering the building you are kindly greeted by the hostess and guided to your table. My family had a reservation for four and we arrived at 6:15 p.m. Throughout our meal, the restaurant filled up quickly.

Within minutes of being seated, a waiter approached the table. Our waiter was beyond kind and very charismatic. We all started with drinks. My brother and I were served a lemonade-based mocktail. The bar was willing to make any kind of drink alcohol-free for their underage diners.

For appetizers, we ordered General Tso’s Cauliflower and chicken wings. The cauliflower was crispy and well-dressed in homemade sauce. Although I didn’t eat the chicken wings, they looked delicious. The wings were inspired by the chip flavors, sour cream and onion, and Hot Cheeto. My family said they were crispy and unlike flavors they had tried before.

Our waiter also gave us complimentary french fries. The restaurant is known for its fries and they did not disappoint. Fried in beef fat and thoroughly salted, they were delicious.

About 20 minutes after our appetizers, the entrees came out. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and it was divine. The sauce was creamy and the ravioli was cooked perfectly. The cheese and mushrooms complement each other well.

My father ordered their flank steak with roasted tomato sauce and rainbow potatoes and it was also divine. Although the menu is small, the choices are varied. No entree is like the next.

We went all out and decided to get dessert as well. I ordered the carrot cake and it was fantastic. The candied carrot topping was refreshing and flavorful. The cake itself was moist and filled with flavor and the frosting paired perfectly.

Overall, the meal was amazing but beyond expensive. My family of four got drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. After all of that, the check was about $250. The food and customer service was fantastic and it may be a special treat but I would love to dine there again. If willing to spend the money, I would recommend Chapman’s Eat Market for prom dinner.
