On Dec. 29, 2022, Andrew Tate, his brother Tristan Tate, and two others were arrested in Romania with allegations of sex trafficking.

Andrew Tate is an influencer who is a self-proclaimed misogynist and has been banned from many social media platforms which include Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Youtube due to comments he has made that were hateful and degrading. Seven years prior to his arrest, in 2015, Tate faced allegations of sexual assault in the UK, but was quickly released as a drawn-out investigation began.

According to Insider, Tate stated that he doesn’t allow women to leave his house when they’re employed by him.

“I’m all over the place, so I end up with all these chicks just stuck in the house, sitting there, bored, completely in love with me,” Tate said. “And of course they don’t go out. They’re not allowed out.”

Vice News conducted interviews with two women, both of whom remained anonymous for their safety, on their experiences which involve abuse by Tate. Tate reportedly had a WebKam business that he used to control and exploit women. He used both physical and mental abuse to draw them into the business. They were both a part of the British case against Tate and are relieved that Romania took action to put him behind bars. Tate denied all allegations of physical abuse and rape that these women made against him through his lawyer.

According to Insider, after Tate’s arrest, six women came forward to share their experiences with Tate as part of the investigation. At least one of these women said she was raped by Tate. Attacks that involve Tate’s abuse of women who worked for him were reportedly commonplace with his 2015 England WebKam business.

While rumors circulated about the Tate brothers’ release from prison, they are still incarcerated in a Romanian detention center. Their time detained should last for at least 30 days as an investigation against them continues.
