Talk of a sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic “Hocus Pocus” has been in the air since 2020. The cast reunion of the wicked Sanderson sisters played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy caused a stir for all loyal “Hocus Pocus” fans. But recently in May, Disney announced that the new movie will hit the screens on September 30, 2022.

The movie began to film in fall of 2021 in Providence, Rhode Island, different from the original, actually filmed in Salem. Director Anne Fletcher said the final cut in January of 2022

The new movie will have some similar characteristics to the first. It will still be set in Salem and have some familiar faces such as Billy Butcherson, the zombie played by Doug Jones. However, this film will introduce some new characters to the “Hocus Pocus” scene. Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham and Belissa Escobedo will have their turn at the Sanderson sisters in the sequel. The original plot follows the evil witches throughout Halloween night on a mission to suck the lives out of all the children in Salem, until they are stopped by four of the original characters Max, Dani, Allison and of course Binx. In “Hocus Pocus 2” the Sanderson sisters will still run “amok, amok, amok,” through the streets of Salem but we will have to wait and see if these legends will ever truly die. It might not just be a bunch of Hocus Pocus. Stream “Hocus Pocus 2” on September 30th on Disney+.
