Champions League sets the perfect stage for an English battle for the most coveted title in football.

The well awaited Championship of Europe the Champions Leauge kicked off on Sep 14, 21 with Sevilla facing off against RB Salzburg in group stage matchday one of six. After six matchdays in the group stage Juventus, LOSC, Man United, Bayern, Real Madrid, Ajax, Liverpool, and Manchester City led the groups going into the round of 16’s two leg elimination matches.

“The Round of 16 of the 2022 UEFA Champions League proved compelling with several of the favorites going through — Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Liverpool and defending champions Chelsea — with a handful of surprise teams also advancing,” Simon Borg said.

The Round of 16 proved very surprising with the elimination of European powerhouses Manchester United, PSG, Juventus and Ajax at the hands of Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Benifica and sleeper pick Villareal. With superstars Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo knocked out of co ntention for another European title the crucial quarterfinals began and the next eight games were filled with surprise and some of the best soccer ever played.

“We were unlucky. That is why we are disappointed. We got beaten by individual quality and conversion. We made two mistakes, two ball losses. We deserved to go through after this match today. It was not meant to be,” Thomas Tuchel said.

Chelsea head manager Tuchel showed his frustration with the 3-2 result of the second leg of Chelsea’s quarterfinal match when they faced Real Madrid after they were down 3-1 on aggregate from a blown game in London. After an incredible performance in one of the best games of European football this year Chelsea falls just short after an overturned goal by VAR for Marcos Alonso and a striking header in overtime for Karim Benzema. After a shocker in Madrid results from Liverpool and Manchester came in as expected the two dominant teams in England moved onto the semifinals. The cinderella story came out of Villarreal as the kings of Germany Bayern Munich got defeated by Villarreal which is a middle of the table team out of La Liga.

“We have done very well and I am sure we can beat them. It’s always difficult playing a Champions League semi-final, regardless of the opponent,” Aymeric Laporte said.

Manchester City defender showed his confidence going into the semifinal match against Real Madrid. On the other side of the table Liverpool is set to battle the cinderella Villarreal in a match Liverpool in fully expected to come out on top of. So now the stage is set for the two kings of England Manchester City and Liverpool to face off again for the 189 time not in a league match or an FA Cup semifinal but in a battle to be crowned the champion of Europe.
