The wait is finally over, the first NFL game of the season happens tonight..
This event is marked on many peoples’ calendars as it is a Thursday night football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
This game will take place on Lincoln Financial Field at 8:20 P.M. and will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock. The two teams will have different faces on their rosters, as Dallas’ star player Micah Parsons was shockingly traded away to the Green Bay Packers this past offseason.
The Philadelphia Eagles have relatively kept their roster the same. They signed Saquon Barkley to a record-breaking contract extension after his record-breaking season. The deal is worth $41 million with an AAV of $20.6 million per year.
The Philadelphia Eagles have one notable player on the injury list by Nakobe Dean, where he injured his knee and will not be activated until Oct. 5 due to his placement on the Eagles PUP list.
The Dallas Cowboys do not have any notable injuries this upcoming game, but with the loss of Micah Parsons this offseason, they will be looking for more linebacker help, and help with edge rusher pressure.
Both teams have set expectations for this upcoming season where the Eagles will try and repeat as Super Bowl Champions. The Cowboys’ window of fame will close soon if they do not make the NFC Championship, which is something they have not done in 29 years.
As both teams have championship aspirations, only one can come out on top. The Eagles are favorites to win the NFC East once again, and are highly bet on to win the Super Bowl.
Also in the NFC East there is a team by the name of the Washington Commanders, led by star Quarterback Jayden Daniels and star Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin. McLaurin recently just signed a contract extension with the Commanders which will keep him for the future years, a key piece that the Commanders will need, and Jayden Daniels #1 target.
The Commanders will face off against the New York Giants on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. Some fans assume that the NFC east will be a very tough division this year, where all teams have star talent.
With the start of the season today, all the excitement is here and is ramped up. The Eagles are current 8.5 point favorites, and have a 68.7 percent chance of victory tonight according to ESPN Analytics.
