This holiday season, bundle up and head to Hocking Hills to experience Christmas at Ash Cave.
This festive event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 5-7 pm., and will feature many fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. It is put on by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and is a unique way to experience the magic and cheer of the Christmas season.
When you first arrive, you will take a lantern lit walk down the quarter-mile trail to Ash Cave, which is the largest recessed cave in Ohio. It is over 700 feet wide and is known for its interesting history as a natural gathering spot, extraordinary cliffs, and beautiful ice formations in the winter. Its breathtaking natural beauty makes it the perfect setting for a joyous celebration.
“Between all of the foliage and rock formations, Hocking Hills is one of the most beautiful places in Ohio,” Anuki Malimbada Liyanage ‘27 said.
Once you get to the cave, you will be greeted with cups of hot cocoa and cookies to snack on while you enjoy the party.
Santa will stop by for a jolly visit and carolers will fill the cave with the sounds of classic Christmas songs. Campfires will be lit for people to gather around and stay warm and cozy.
Materials to make many different hands-on crafts including popsicle stick decorations, pinecone bird feeders, and hand dipped candles will also be provided.
This event comes at no cost and is the perfect opportunity to get in the Christmas spirit and have lots of fun with your friends and family. You can make many new memories and enjoy the holiday season while you admire the natural wonders of Ohio.
