In front of a crowd of over 100,000, the Ohio State Buckeyes took down the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers in a massive showdown on Saturday in Columbus.
The highly-anticipated matchup saw the Buckeyes take the victory by an impressive score of 38-15.
After a Buckeyes punt to start the game, Indiana went right down the field and scored off of a Ty Son Lawton run, which handed the Hoosiers a 7-0 early lead.
Just into the second quarter, Indiana held off Ohio State at the goal line to maintain its 7-0 lead. However, the Hoosiers would then punt the ball and the Buckeyes would score within five plays to level the game at 7-7.
Right before halftime, Ohio State capitalized on a botched Indiana punt and scored another touchdown off a TreyVeon Henderson run, which handed the Buckeyes a 14-7 lead.
Into the second half, Ohio State’s Caleb Downs took the ball to the house on a 79 yard punt return, which extended the Buckeyes lead to 21-7.
Shortly after, Will Howard connected with Jelani Thurman in the endzone to give Ohio State a 21 point lead over the Hoosiers.
Indiana would score another touchdown late off of another Ty Son Lawton run, but, with only 1:53 left in the game, wouldn’t be enough for the Hoosiers to make a comeback.
With the win, the Buckeyes gained even more momentum as the season winds down. The loss also sparked questions over whether or not Indiana, who fell to 10-1 with the loss, should even make the playoffs this year, as the Hoosiers are without what many would consider a quality win.
The Buckeyes, however, improved its record to 10-1 on the year and likely cemented its spot in the playoffs. Moreover, Ohio State, with a win next week over Michigan, will take on the Oregon Ducks in the Big Ten Championship game on Dec. 7.
