After a season-ending loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Jan. 15, reporters say following the emotional game, Kelce spoke to his teammates and suggested his plans to retire but has not made an official announcement yet.
Jason Kelce has played for the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team for the past 13 years as a center in the offensive line. Born in Cleveland Heights, OH, Kelce attended Cleveland Heights High School and went on to play football at the University of Cincinnati along with his younger brother. Kelce was selected in the sixth round of the NFL draft in 2011 and has started in 193 games since. Throughout his career, he has been referred to on social media as the Adam Sandler of the NFL.
Kelce is one of five centers in NFL history to receive six first-team all-pro selections and is set to be in the Football Hall of Fame; he also made it to seven Pro Bowls in his 13 seasons, according to Sports Illustrated.
Additionally, Kelce and his brother are the hosts of a podcast called “New Heights with Jason and Travis” where they talk about anything from football and parenthood to their personal relationships and give fans an inside scoop of their life. Jason’s wife Kylie Mcdevitt has appeared on the podcast several times to speak about their 3 children.
Although Jason has not formally announced his retirement to the public he made it clear when he does it will be addressed.
“I don’t know what next year is going to look like with the team. Coaches, players…,” Kelce said, according to NBC News, “I just want to make sure everybody knows how much I love and respect and appreciate the effort and energy they put into the year.”
