For those who might be on a “stay-cation” this spring break, there are many local opportunities for fun in Columbus.

According to AccuWeather, the average temperature for March 26 to April 1 is about 53 degrees, so students may not be able to lay out and tan, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t have fun.

“Free” is something that most high schoolers love to hear. On March 30 from 7:00-10:00 pm, the 934 Gallery will present Super Mario Bros at their location for free. At McConnell Arts Center on 3/28, 3/29, 3/30, and 3/31 from 12:00-5:00 pm, the 2023 Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition will take place and will have free admission for all. On March 26 from 6:00-7:30 pm, the Closing Concert of the 46th Annual Ohio State Jazz Festival will take place in Weigel Auditorium and will have free attendance.

“The Ohio Show Band, featuring pianist/vocalist Dave Powers and guitarist/vocalist Josh Beatty, will present ‘Steely Dan meets Billy Joel,’ spotlighting popular selections by Joel, Becker & Fagen and their contemporaries. Shawn Wallace, director,” OSU’s School of Music website said.

For sports fans, the Columbus Blue Jackets will play the Florida Panthers on April 1 at 7:00 pm at Nationwide Arena. According to Seat Geek, CBJ tickets can be purchased at as low as eight dollars and cost $53.00 on average.

Who doesn’t like to indulge in tasty snacks and treats? Columbus holds the North Market Downtown which, according to their website, has over 30 vendors and has been established for over 145 years. Their hours Sunday through Monday are 10:00 am-5:00 pm and Tuesday through Saturday is 9:00 am-7:00 pm.

All of these events were found online at Experience Columbus, and they have more! So, if you are a “stay-cation” participant this spring break, seize the opportunity to explore your local Columbus area.
