This year’s flu season has been record-breaking in hospitalizations and cases. Even though many have had the flu once or twice with no more than a fever and chills, the sickness can quickly turn dangerous, similar to Coronavirus. Here’s how to stay safe during the flu season this year:

  1. GET VACCINATED!

The flu vaccine is one of the most widely available vaccines that exist. Not only that, but the side effects are not as draining for many as they are for other vaccines.

The CDC website states, “While vaccine effectiveness (VE) can vary, recent studies show that flu vaccination reduces the risk of flu illness by between 40% and 60% among the overall population.”

      2. Keep hand sanitizer handy

Hand sanitizer is a wonderful way to prevent illness. Keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer closed after a day out and about. Additionally, it can be helpful in the prevention of germs that enter through the mouth, nose, and eyes via the use of the hands.

      3. Take supplements

There are plenty of natural deterrents for the flu.  A zinc tablet daily can boost your immune system, as can vitamin D and vitamin C (yes, even daily orange juice can aid the immune system).

      4. Be aware of others

If someone repeatedly coughs and sneezes, it’s best to keep at least a small distance away from them. That means if someone feels under the weather, they should stay home!

      5. Maintain a healthy lifestyle

Overall, nothing is better to prevent sickness than to keep their body in shape. Make sure to add daily nutrients to their day and set a good sleep schedule. Not only will this help reduce the chances of the flu, but it will also make them feel better in general!
