Earlier this month, a javelina, a pig-like desert animal, hopped into an empty car when it spotted a bag of Cheetos, but the animal bumped the car into neutral, when the Subaru came to a rest, and the javelina was not injured.

In Yavapai County, well known for its mild weather conditions, deputies got an unusual concerning call. In a city named Cornville, a vigilant resident noticed a javelina driving down the street in a Subaru station wagon. Javelinas often search neighborhoods at nightfall to look for food, water and shelter. The food in question was a fresh bag of Cheetos that the Javelina had spotted when the car’s hatchback had been left open.

The creature was successful in its pursuit of an open bag of Cheetos inside a parked Subaru…The javelina feasted upon the cheese-dust-covered snack until the bag was clean. After finishing, he tried to escape, according to USAtoday.

While javelinas aren’t known to cause danger to humans, they can inflict serious harm. The once famished javelina was now in a dire need of an escape and started destroying the owner’s car. While the chaos ensued the javelina had knocked the car into neutral and started drifting down the road.

Authorities say the javelina ripped off a portion of the dashboard and the inside of a door in an attempt to escape, according to AP News. The sheriff assured the public that the javelina was carefully released and sent back into the wild.  A deputy opened the hatch, and the javelina was able to run back into the wilderness, according to CBS News.
