Local students involved in 4H and FFA displayed their best crops and livestock at the Delaware County Fair from September 13th to the 16th.
The first county fair was created as a way to promote agriculture, the rides and food trucks only added to pull a larger audience. 4H and FFA members have carried on this tradition, going to work day and night during the summer to be competitive against other projects.
“I wake up at 6 A.M every morning to feed and water my rabbits, then I take another hour to feed my lambs and train them,” William Ashton ‘27 said. “Halter training and bracing is really tough because sheep are dumb and they don’t really understand what you want at first. I do this in the morning and in the evening, 4H is definitely a commitment.”
