Homecoming quickly approaches and it’s such a memorable time for high school students.
However, some students get lost in all the chaos that not only the dance may bring, but the week as a whole. Homecoming is a busy week at Berlin with the annual powderpuff game, bonfire, spirit week and the Friday night football game.
“I love preparing all of my outfits prior to spirit week and seeing everyone’s fun outfits,” Ella Kunselman ‘28 said.
Prior to homecoming, ensure that you order your homecoming dance attire sooner than later. Especially at this time of year, orders get delayed and sell out fast so it’s crucial to place these orders as early as possible. Also be sure to plan your group, dinner and any necessary ride arrangements. Decide what friends you’re going with, and if you want to go with a date or not.
Next are dinner plans. Lots of students look forward to the dinner before homecoming. They find it exciting to enjoy a meal with their friends and also have some downtime after the stress of pictures. It’s essential to schedule a reservation in advance. Some popular locations for dinner include Carfangias, Marcellas, Brio and BJ’s Brewhouse. Some students also choose to cater food to someone’s house to make dinner easier and slightly more casual. Both options are great and lead up to a fun time at the dance.
Pictures are something most students want to make time for. Getting dressed up all fancy and getting with your friends to take photos are some people’s favorite parts of homecoming. Make sure to schedule an amount of time for this, as it is really important. Deciding the spot is also essential; Try not to pick a place to be busy, because you may have to take additional time if it’s really crowded. Some popular photo locations include Inniswoods Metro Gardens, Polaris Founders Park and The Lakes Golf and Country Club.
Once you complete all of your preparation prior to homecoming day, it should be fun and as stress free as possible. Although there are still things that will help you have a more practical homecoming day. It can be beneficial to wear tennis shoes to the dance, or giving yourself an hour of buffer time between getting ready and taking pictures. Also ensure that you have a bag or purse with the things you may need during the dance. I would recommend makeup for touch ups , money for dinner, and especially your school ID so that you are able to make it into the dance. If you don’t have your ID on you, you will not be able to attend. I highly encourage a portable charger as well in case your phone dies during the dance.
It’s important to develop a plan prior to homecoming week so you can make the absolute best out of your day.
