As fall starts to settle in, many students make a stop before school to coffee shops to get their hands on pumpkin-spice flavored treats.
While the season transition begins, pumpkin spice seemingly takes over and becomes a fan favorite within the community.
Every September, autumn dominates seasonal trends, and students embrace this effortlessly, whether it be from cozy sweaters to pumpkin pies and corn mazes . In addition to the new fall activities, the entrance of the missed flavor has become an annual trend to enjoy for the Berlin student body.
“I think pumpkin spice really gets me into the fall mood and it’s just a really good flavor,” Yashita Duddela ‘28 said.
Coffee shops like Starbucks decided to release their famous pumpkin spice lattes earlier than usual this year. However, this prompted online debate if August is considered too early to release a fall themed drink since many people consider this month to still be summer. Still, Berlin students are happy to have this drink out and are able to enjoy it a little sooner than expected.
“I’m really happy that the Pumpkin Spice latte came out earlier, I’ve been waiting for it since the end of July,” Adhira Surendramoorthy ‘28 said.
Along with the Pumpkin Spice latte, many other autumn-themed drinks have also started to become popular. A handful of fast-food chains have taken advantage of America’s desire for “sweater weather” drinks. Stores such as Dunkin’ Donuts with their famous Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, McDonald’s and their McCafe Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Krispy Kreme with their Frozen Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Caribou Coffee with their Pumpkin White Mocha released their drinks around the end of August, too.
With the season transitions, pumpkin spice has become a quick, annual fan favorite and the flavored drinks have brought a beloved taste back into the season.
