Since the boys soccer team’s season started, they have obtained an almost undefeated record. Currently 6-3-1 , the boys have set a high standard for this season.
“We have grown as a team by giving it our all in every practice and game, and giving it 100 percent focus 100 percent of the time,” Carter Louters ‘26 said.
From a 12-4-2 record last season, the team has put lots of effort into their practices to enhance their skills. Even in the tight situations, the team has shown perseverance. Just recently, the boys defeated Olentangy Orange for the first time in a couple years.
“ Four minutes left in the game, we’re just looking for something special. We just needed something to happen, so I just put it on frame and scored,” Keegan Hickey ‘27 said.
Against Orange, Hickey scored the game winning goal to clutch them to a win. The team has continued this positive energy ever since this game.
“We have bonded through outside events like team meals, and also playing as a complete team on game days,” Louters ‘26 said.
This team hasn’t just improved on skills, but has also improved their team dynamic overall. Louters, one of the three captains on the Varsity Boys Soccer team, has explained that this team doesn’t just bond at games and practices, but instead goes above and beyond to bond at outside events as well.
“It’s something every team looks to accomplish, and to be the team that actually does it feels amazing,” Louters ‘26 said.
With this season not even halfway done, this team has a high standard to continue. Their next game up against Thomas Worthington is another chance for them to continue their success. As one out of the two teams in their conference with the title of undefeated, on Oct. 7 they will face Olentangy for a showdown.
