The journalism department at Berlin finds itself in numerous forms, whether it be BNN, DBSN, The Bulletin, or The River.
Below is a brief overview of what each part of the department does and how they all work to capture Berlin pride.
Berlin News Network (BNN)
At the beginning of third period, BNN broadcasts live and reports all the latest news to the student body. Although on Mondays, BNN brings students a pop-culture show called Good Morning Berlin, which debuted just last year.
From sport and club news, to Principal’s Corner with Mr. Jagger every Friday, BNN is the perfect source for news that covers “all things Berlin and beyond.”
Be sure to tune in to BNN live on 3140news.com or on YouTube at OBHS Broadcast, and follow them on Instagram @berlin.news.network.
Double Blue Sports Network (DBSN)
The journalism department’s newest member, DBSN, was formally launched at the start of the school year in 2023.
In just three years, DBSN gained almost 2,000 followers on Instagram and nearly 300 on X. Its accounts on social media feature game day posts, results, and live updates from sporting events, and other promotions for all things relating to Berlin sports.
Last year, DBSN introduced a new extended sports show called Overtime that covers sports outside of Berlin. The network also livestreams events, and recently debuted the first edition of DBSN Gameday, which is the network’s take on ESPN’s College Gameday.
DBSN can be found on Instagram @doublebluesportsnetwork, on X @doublebluesn, or on YouTube at OBHS Broadcast.
The Bulletin
Home of Berlin’s school newsmagazine, The Bulletin comes out seven times throughout the school year, with a special senior edition at the end of the school year.
The magazine features content about sports, student life, and other news of interest to the student body.
Every year, The Bulletin staff chooses a TV show to be the theme throughout the year. This year, the staff settled on the extremely popular American sitcom Full House, which ran from 1987 to 1995, to be the theme.
The first six issues of The Bulletin can be purchased for $1 with cash or $1.50 with card. The senior edition can be purchased for $5.
Be sure to follow The Bulletin on Instagram @obhsnews.
The River
The River is home to Berlin’s yearbook, which comes out each year at the very beginning of the school year.
It features not only portrait photos of students, but also covers all Berlin sports and clubs. While the yearbook only comes out once, the staff works year-round to ensure all activities are covered. The staff also keeps busy through the creation of photo galleries on 3140news.com.
